A Graded Approach to Shape Representation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Shape representation is one of the key issues in a computer vision system. One important group of shape representations is multiple scale representation. In past years, many studies have been taken focusing on such group. Most of them used some operations such as smoothing, bluring or grouping to gradually obtain representation with diierent degrees of detail. Based on these operations, they used some parameters of their operations to indicate the detailing degree. One defect of using operation parameter is that human cannot easily make sense how detail the obtain representation is. To overcome such defect, we try to propose a graded approach which is guided by a human given similarity requirement to construct a most concise description of the shape which satisses the given requirement. As a result, our shape representation catch human's intuition about the detailing degree and suits machine's requirement for the concise description. c i ith cluster in cluster record C. c i index of starting vector of cluster c i. c i index of the middle vector of cluster c i. d ki the straight distance from x k to the t i. improvement of an reassignment from u to u (new). N S the number of the members of set S. t i the set of vectors that support the token t i. Q i a partial contour. the range of closeness for merge procedure. S the intersections of the contour and the skeleton. s i the ith vector in the set S. the required value of the similarity ratio. T the similarity ratio of T. T an approximation of a shape, i.e., a set of tokens. t i the token that corresponds to c i. 3 ~ c t i an attribute, center vector, of token t i. ~ o t i an attribute, orientation, of token t i. ~ s t i an attribute, scale, of token t i. ~ d t i the distance square error of token t i. ~ t i the similarity ratio of token t i. u(x k ; t i) the membership degree function of a vector x k with respect to token t i. " a given distortion threshold in token-detection procedure.

Bending and Free Vibration Analysis of Functionally Graded Plates via Optimized Non-polynomial Higher Order Theories
Optimization concept in the context of shear deformation theories was born for the development of accurate models to study the bending problem of structures. The present study seeks to extend such an approach to the dynamic analysis of plates. A compact and unified formulation with non-polynomial shear strain shape functions (SSSFs) is employed to develop a static and free vibration analysis of...
متن کاملConstrained Interpolation via Cubic Hermite Splines
Introduction In industrial designing and manufacturing, it is often required to generate a smooth function approximating a given set of data which preserves certain shape properties of the data such as positivity, monotonicity, or convexity, that is, a smooth shape preserving approximation. It is assumed here that the data is sufficiently accurate to warrant interpolation, rather than least ...
متن کاملDeformation of Outer Representations of Galois Group
To a hyperbolic smooth curve defined over a number-field one naturally associates an "anabelian" representation of the absolute Galois group of the base field landing in outer automorphism group of the algebraic fundamental group. In this paper, we introduce several deformation problems for Lie-algebra versions of the above representation and show that, this way we get a richer structure than t...
متن کاملDelamination of Two-Dimensional Functionally Graded Multilayered Non-Linear Elastic Beam - an Analytical Approach
Delamination fracture of a two-dimensional functionally graded multilayered four-point bending beam that exhibits non-linear behaviour of the material is analyzed. The fracture is studied analytically in terms of the strain energy release rate. The beam under consideration has an arbitrary number of layers. Each layer has individual thickness and material properties. A delamination crack is loc...
متن کاملA representation for some groups, a geometric approach
In the present paper, we are going to use geometric and topological concepts, entities and properties of the integral curves of linear vector fields, and the theory of differential equations, to establish a representation for some groups on $R^{n} (ngeq 1)$. Among other things, we investigate the surjectivity and faithfulness of the representation. At the end, we give some app...
